About Me

I’m Michael, a photographer from Northern Ireland.

BACKGROUND
It all started at the age of 12 when I was gifted a Kodak disposable camera for use on a family trip to New Zealand. The resulting prints may not have been all that remarkable or well exposed, but the experience of clicking the shutter button and understanding what I could produce was enough to inspire an enduring passion.
A couple of decades on, I’ve traversed over 80 countries and shot countless landscapes, cities, cultures, people and moments of personal significance – all for the simple love of it. Just as my equipment undergoes periodic iterations, my fervour for the medium continually develops. Refining my skills isn’t a destination. Nor is technical aptitude enough in isolation. For me it’s about telling a story, creating art and capturing subjects at their most authentic. When all that remains of me are my photographs, perhaps one or two will still speak to someone in a way nothing else can.
CAMERA & Lenses

I am the proud owner of a Fujifilm X-T2 mirrorless camera, together with too many lenses to list. A few of my favourites include:

  • Fujifilm 16mm f1.4 R WR for wide angle people shots and quasi-macro.

  • Fujifilm 50mm f2 R XF WR for stunning portraits and creamy backgrounds.
  • Fujifilm 55-200mm f3.5-4.8 R LM OIS for long range zooming and lightweight travel.
